About me
Hi, I’m Steve. I’ve been a financial consultant with Shinhan Life since 2014. Before that I spent six years in sales at Pan Ocean, a shipping company, and before that I served as an officer in the Korean Army. I’m happy to work in English or Korean — whichever is easier for you.
A little more about my background:
- Qualified for MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table) eight times — 2014–2020 and 2025
- Spoke on the main stage at the 2017 MDRT Annual Meeting in Orlando
- Gave the keynote at Great Eastern’s 2018 Achievers’ Day in Singapore
- Licensed with Shinhan Life, Hyundai Marine & Fire, and Hana Securities
When we meet, we start with what you already have: what’s included, where things overlap, and what might be missing. Only then do we talk about whether anything new makes sense. For tax or legal questions, I’ll introduce you to a specialist I trust.
Who I work with
- Expats on local or international contracts who want life or health insurance that actually works for life in Korea
- Couples where one partner is Korean, planning for family and retirement together
- Long-term residents holding Korean-language policies they’ve never fully understood
- Anyone who’d like an honest, unhurried second opinion
How I can help
Life insurance
Protecting your family and income if something happens to you — with every term explained clearly
Health insurance
Making sense of Korean health policies, how they work alongside National Health Insurance, and where you may have gaps
Retirement planning
Pensions, funds, and retirement accounts through Hana Securities, planned together with your insurance
A first conversation takes about 20 minutes. Bring whatever you have — photos of Korean policy documents are fine. There’s no obligation to buy anything.
Questions
Can we do everything in English?
Yes. Meetings, explanations, and follow-up can all be in English. If you’d rather switch to Korean at any point, that’s fine too.
Can foreigners get insurance in Korea?
Often, yes. It depends on your visa, residency status, and health. We’ll look at your situation together in the first conversation.
Will you try to sell me something in the first meeting?
No. The first meeting is about understanding what you already have — what’s working, what overlaps, and what might be missing.
What is MDRT?
The Million Dollar Round Table is an international association of financial professionals. Members meet annual professional standards and commit to a code of ethics that puts clients’ interests first.
